The Northern StarYoung and old invited to try futsalby
Stuart Turner10th Apr 2013FUTSAL players old and new can help celebrate a new partnership and enjoy a fun-packed day as well.
Coaching, small games and other activities will be offered as part of FNC NSW Futsal's Come and Try Day on Saturday, April 20.
The event will also help commemorate a new agreement between the regional group and the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre.
Robyn Lawrence, regional co-ordinator with the group, said she hoped the free event would attract more people to the sport.
"Futsal is a great sport," she said. "It can help players improve their football skills and it is really enjoyable too. With the smaller-sided games, players get more touches on the ball and their reflexes are quicker too."
A barbecue and other fun and games are also planned for the day, which will be held at the Oliver Avenue complex.
The event will also mark a new partnership between the group and the centre, which will stage futsal tournaments and work even more closely with Lawrence's organisation to provide more playing opportunities for participants.
"We are really excited to link up with such a good venue, especially one that is so popular in the area," Lawrence said. "We love futsal and this can only help us grow the sport."
Times for the day are being finalised.
