The AFC.comTainan City 1- 6 Shenzhen NanlingFriday, 12 April 2013Shah Alam: Chinese side Shenzhen Nanling booked a ticket into Zone 2 semi-finals of the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2013 Qualifiers after comfortably beating Tainan City of Chinese Taipei 6-1 at the Panasonic Sports Complex on Friday.
The star-studded Chinese will take on fellow title-favourites Chonburi Bluewave on Saturday which will potentially decide the group winners and runners-up. With Chonburi taking on Pasargad later on the day, Tainan are virtually out of the competition. They will face Pasargad on Saturday.
Shenzhen, who had taken time to break the deadlock against Pasargad a day ago, took an early lead through Danilo Moura as the Brazilian dribbled past two Tainan defenders at the centre and dodged the wrong-footed Tainan goalie Pan Wen Chieh in the 3rd minute.
After a quick-fire second goal, Shenzhen were comfortably dealt with by Tainan defenders and goalkeeper. Shenzhen’s marquee signing Vahid Shamsaee came close as many as three times but he squandered all chances before finding the back of the net with a few seconds remaining in the first half as Shenzhen went into the break with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
“Yesterday (against Chonburi Bluewave) we lacked defensive ideas so there were added cautious approaches in our defence today but we struggled in the final third,” Tainan coach Lo Chih Tsung told www.the-afc.com.
“The difference today was the foreign imports of Shenzhen as these two foreign players they have are much better futsal players than the players who play at this level.
“We are virtually out but we are going back with a spirited soul and we will start the preparations for next year very soon and I hope having a couple of top foreign players would definitely help our squad,” he said.
His Shenzhen counterpart Wu Zhuoxi also had lots of praises for his foreign professionals. “It’s every coach's dream to have a player like Vahid (Shamsaee) in his team; he is powerful and skilful and a team player,” the former China national futsal team captain said.
“Danilo is a true Brazilian, he represents Brazilian futsal with precision and vision. On top of this, he has great technical skills and his conversion rate is amazing,” he said.
The pair of Shamsaee and Danilo have combined to score Shenzhen’s 10 goals so far in the competition where Shenzhen have managed 16 goals in total.
“We are in the semi-finals but the job is not done yet. Tomorrow’s match against Chonburi Bluewave is an important tie and we don’t want to lose our rhythm in the tournament,” he added.

The AFC.comPelindo FC 2-4 Dural WarriorsFriday, 12 April 2013Shah Alam: Australian champions Dural Warriors stayed alive in the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2013 Zone 2 Qualifiers by defeating Indonesian Pelindo FC 4-2 on Friday at the Panasonic Sports Complex.
In one of the highly competitive matches of the tournament, Dural had to come from behind to beat the Indonesian who looked in complete control till the first half.
Dural dictated the early proceedings but wayward finishing and Pelindo goalie Yos Adi Wicaksono’s brilliance meant Palindo hit them on counterattack and went in front in the 8th minute when Ahmad Zulfikar’s sliding effort off Gustian Sukma’s release landed at the back of the net.
Dural found their accuracy in the second half as all of the goals they scored in the match came after the change of the end.
A clever finishing from Blake Rosier brought the match at level in the 23rd minute while a long range effort of Tobias Seeto went inside Pelindo’s goal for Dural’s 2-1 lead in the 27th minute.
With Pelindo resorting on attacking play, Dural explored the open space at Pelindo territory and added a couple of more goals. Pelindo need to beat Thai Son Nam on Saturday and if they manage to do so, goal difference would come into calculations with all the three sides of Group B having equal points.
“The most important thing was to stay in the competition and we did it today so we have just done our homework and let’s see what happen tomorrow between Thai Son Nam and Pelindo,” Dural coach Robert Varela told www.the-afc.com.
“I am pleased with the way we approached today’s match. There were some wayward finishing in the beginning and we were trailing by a goal in the half time but I knew the goals were around the corner, it was just the poor finishing and we rectified it in the half time and were duly awarded.
Pelindo coach Dadang Iskandar rued the lapse of concentration behind a poor second half display. “Everything was going well before we conceded two quick goals that could have been avoided,” said Iskandar.
“We still have a match in hand so it’s up to us and since Thai Son Nam and we play similar style of futsal, there are chances. We got bettered off the physicality of the Australians as well today so hopefully on Saturday we will have a great match,” he quipped.

The AFC.comPasargad FC 2-10 Chonburi BluewaveFriday, 12 April 2013Shah Alam: Chonburi Bluewave joined Shenzhen Nanling in the semi-final from Group A of the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2013 Zone 2 Qualifiers after recording a convincing 10-2 win over Pasargad FC of the Philippines.
The Thai outfit will take on fellow tournament favourites Shenzhen Nanling on Saturday to decide the group winner while after suffering two defeats in first two matches, Pasargad joined Tainan City of Chinese Taipei to bow out of the competition. They face Tainan in an academic contest on Saturday.
Chonburi controlled the entire match against the Filipino debutants imposing relentless pressures which saw their players hitting the frame of the goal as many as three times in the first 10 minutes of the match before Tanakorn Santanaprasit broke the ice in the 10th minute.
Santanaprasit’s goal opened the floodgates of goals for the Thai side and they never looked back and went on scoring nine more goals. Pasargad’s Iranian import Davood Abbasi notched a brace as consolation in the later period of the match.
Despite winning the match quite comfortably, Chonburi Bluewave coach Pazos Mendez stressed on the need of being clinical in front of the goal.
“Yes it was an important win and with the win our place in the semi-final has been secured but there are so many areas where we need to improve specially our finishing in the beginning were appalling,” he told www.the-afc.com.
“We need to be more accurate in the knockout stages because at this level there is no huge gulf amongst the team and if you fail to convert your chances, you may need to pay for it,” he warned.
“I don’t have any preference over our semi-final opponent but our target is to win all the matches so we will try our best against Shenzhen on Saturday,” he added.
Mendez’s counterpart Esmail Sedigh blamed lethargy behind the dismal showing. “We have a very young and inexperienced team and the standard of this tournament is quite high,” he said.
“Although they are from Asia, lot of Chonburi players are world class players whereas I had little luxury of top players and had little options for frequent rotation meaning my players were quite tired in the second half where we made at least five identical mistakes while giving away the goals,” he added.
