Emoni NarawaMonday, April 08, 2013FIJI Football Association Futsal winners Dhanji Boys will play in New Zealand as a reward for winning the title for the third year in a row.
This was confirmed to Times Sport by Dhanji Boys president Shameet Kumar after their 2-0 win over Narere Boys in the final of the Fiji FA Futsal tournament at the Vodafone Arena yesterday.
"We have one overseas trip lined up for the boys in New Zealand. We are targeting this trip at the moment and we will try our best to be part of that tournament," Kumar said.
The Samabula-based team made a slow start to the tournament after a nil-all draw with 3R in their opening pool match.
However, they managed to win their pool at the end of day one.
Kumar congratulated his troops for defending their title.
He said the boys were dedicated at training.
"This is the third time we have won this title and I salute the boys for the effort and contribution during our training sessions. They showed a lot of commitment and dedication at training and I congratulate them for the win."
Dhanji Boys beat Satelite 3-0 in the semi-finals while Narere Boys beat Dhanji Blues 3-2. Dhanji Boys concede only one goal against their second string team (Dhanji Blues) during the two-day tournament.
