The AFC.comVarela wants bright start for Dural WarriorsThursday, 28 March 2013Sydney: Experienced tactician Robert Varela of Australian champions and AFC Club Futsal 2013 qualifiers participating Dural Warriors has stressed on the importance of a bright opening in the upcoming Zone 2 qualifiers.
Dural Warriors are pitted alongside Indonesian champions Pelindo FC and Vietnamese powerhouse Thai Son Nam in Group B of the Zone 2 qualifications.
“Being a group of only three teams, we cannot afford any slip ups if we want to move into the semi-finals and beyond,” a press release from the club quoted Varela as saying.
“The pressure will be on from the start and we must achieve positive results from game one,” he added.
Experienced Futsalroos in the likes of Australian captain Gregory Giovenali, Jarrod Basger, Nathan Niski and Tobias Seeto are expected to lead the young all-Australian side having eight players below 21 years of age.
Dural Warriors’ continental debut match is against Vietnamese powerhouse Thai Son Nam on April 11 – two days before their arrival at Kuala Lumpur. They are scheduled to play one friendly match against the Malaysian national team before they face Thai Son Nam.
The top three sides of Zone 2 qualifiers amongst seven clubs will book a place in the August finals to be organised in Nagoya, Japan.
