Jayden Bartlett competes at Brazil in Australian Futsal team

SINGLETON’s Jayden Bartlett will represent Australia after being rewarded with a place in the Under 15 and 16s Australian Futsal team to tour Brazil in November and December.

The 14-year-old’s recent performances for his Northern New South Wales side in the National Futsal Championship didn’t go unnoticed by Australian team selectors who surprised Jayden in February with a formal invitation to the side.

The young footballer was also left flabbergasted after being asked to trial for the Malaysian under 16s outdoor soccer side last November( eligible through his mother’s heritage).

Jayden turned the opportunity down to continue living in Australia but it doesn’t take away from his growing talent in the sport.

“The Brazil trip is a great opportunity to train under the best coaches in the game and I’m really excited,” he said.

Jayden said he was quick on his feet and strong on the ball but it will be a different challenge for him up against players with Brazilian flair.

The two week tour takes them to Rio de Janeiro to the Grand Camary, Brazil Soccer Federation’s training camp and the Atletico Minero Futsal Training Academy.

During this time Jayden will play some of the best Brazil based futsal teams and receive the best coaching advice and even meet some Brazilian stars of the outdoor game.

The team can expect a great atmosphere in Brazil because there’ll be there only months before the Soccer World Cup takes place.

Jayden was one of four from the Hunter region to make it into the Australian futsal side and plays his club futsal for Maitland and outdoor soccer for South Cardiff but his grassroots began in Singleton.

Selection is one part of the equation though for Jayden whose family need to find $8000 to secure a spot on the trip.

He and his family are asking for any kind of sponsorship or donation just to help Jayden represent Australia.
