Belarusian Telegraph AgencyBelarus loses to Netherlands in UEFA Futsal Euro 2014 opener28.03.2013MINSK, 28 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian national futsal team were overpowered by the team of the Netherlands in the UEFA Futsal Euro 2014 qualification group 6 opener on 27 March, BelTA has learnt.
The Netherlands who are the hosts of the qualifying tournament won 2-1. The score was opened by the Netherlands’ captain Samir Makhoukhi who netted three minutes into the game. After the half time, on 26 minutes, Aleksei Popov of Belarus leveled the tie only for the Belarusian team to concede once again in less than a minute. It was Jeroen De Groot of the Netherlands who beat Belarus’ goalie Artur Novoichik to seal the 2-1 victory for his team.
In the parallel group 6 match the Czech Republic hammered Georgia 4-1.
On 28 March Belarus meet the Czech team and completes the tournament on 30 March with the game against the Georgian footballers.
Winners of the seven qualifying round groups advance to the final tournament of the European Championship that will be played in Antwerp, Belgium, from 28 January to 8 February 2014. Seven second-placed teams in these groups and the best third-placed team will be drawn into four pairs that will compete in the play-off round in September 2013. Four winners will proceed to the final tournament of UEFA Futsal Euro 2014. The final tournament will begin with the 12 contenders drawn into four groups of three teams.
