Futsal's grand finale

THE best proponents of soccer's smaller, faster indoor version will clash tonight for the grand finals of the Swan Hill Futsal League.

In the senior women's division Havachats will meet the Strikers, kicking off 6.45pm, while in the senior men Thunder Crackers are up against Swamp Donkeys, from 7.30pm, at Swan Hill Leisure Centre.

In the mens, both the Crackers and Donkeys progressed from tightly-fought semi-finals this week and both sides are brimming with confidence.

Donkeys played the physical K.C.G, winning 5-4, with some excellent footwork late in the game producing amazing aerial goals.

Finishing first on the ladder this year, the Donkeys rightly rely on gun striker Simon Makur (taking 45 goals for the season) and he will be the player to watch.

Paired with Brent Mitchell — who also fared well in the goal department, racking up 40 goals for the season — they make for a formidable duo.

Thunder Crackers came up against Mixed Grills in their semi, and won 4-1 through some solid defence and counter-attacking.

After missing the semi-finals, star striker Jalal Kargar will be a welcome return for the side this week, while 'Most Consistent' Joseph Pino should be consistently dangerous.

In the womens, Havachats will be looking for trophy-winning efforts when it meets Strikers tonight.

Across the 18 game season, Strikers scored 67 more goals than they conceded, while Havachats conceded 11 more than they scored.

Strikers scored 111 goals this season, and have demonstrated their love of attacking futsal.

Havachats will go into the match as underdogs, but are capable of a great performance on their day.
