by Walter Sim

A Futsal tournament for youth was jointly held by the Home Team Eastern Sector and the Singapore Police Force on Saturday.

Participants of the tournament held at the Bedok Indoor Sports Hall, titled the Masagos Cup, included students from secondary schools who are involved in the Youth Mentoring Scheme 2.0, as well as community youth clubs and soccer teams.

The tournament is a highlight of the scheme, through which Home Team officers mentor 169 youth from 24 secondary schools in eastern Singapore. Muhammad Aiman Huseini, 15, from Bedok South Secondary School said: "Being in this programme has helped me become more disciplined in life and focused in my studies. My relationship with my family has also improved."

The event was graced by Senior Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs Masagos Zulkifli, who is also an MP for Tampines GRC. He said: "We hope to instil discipline, confidence and teamwork in our youths through sports."
