Takoma Park futsal league accepting players until Jan. 13

First game set for Jan. 27

Second- through fourth-grade kids have until Jan. 13 to sign up to play in the Takoma Park Recreation Department’s Futsal League this winter.

The registration deadline was originally scheduled for Jan. 6, but has been extended a week.

As of Thursday morning, 40 of the league’s 60 spots had been filled, though additional teams will form if enough kids sign up.

The first indoor soccer game will kick off Jan. 27, and all games of the six-week season will be held at the Takoma Park Recreation Center on Sundays. The players will practice each Friday evening.

The registration fee is $60 for Takoma Park residents, and there are scholarship opportunities available to city residents who can provide proof of enrollment in the Free or Reduced Meals program or similar financial assistance program.
