96 teams in Salleh Trophy futsal tourney

Tawau: A total of 96 teams consisting of youth from the district here took part in the RM12,200 Salleh Trophy futsal competition which began at the SG Futsal Courts on Saturday.

The winner of the competition will take home RM5000, Runners-up RM3000 while the third place winner will receive RM2000.

There will be other prizes as well.

The opening ceremony of the two-day competition was attended by Kalabakan member of parliament Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Ghapur Salleh.

In his speech, he urged the youth in the competition to form an association, as it will be easier for them to receive sponsorship from any parties concerned.

He also called on the youth to show their talents as well as good sportsmanship throughout the competition to reflect the purpose of closer unity among the youth in the district.

He added that players and teams who excel in the meet will get the chance to compete in the national futsal tournament in the national capital.
