English futsal is still in its embryonic stages but one English coach has been travelling the world sharing his knowledge and expertise. His name is Andy Reading. After injury forced him into retirement the former professional futsal goalkeeper has turned to coaching.
Andy played for 10 years in England and abroad and faced some of Europe’s top sides including Benfica, Sporting, Action 21 and Luparense.
Since ending his career his passion and love for futsal has seen him dedicate himself to coaching the current and next generation of goalkeepers. He knew he needed to expand his knowledge and decided to learn from the world's best goalkeepers and their coaches, analysing their techniques and training methods to the smallest detail.
This led him to reach a level where it is now he who others from around the globe turn to for information on futsal goalkeeping. Andy has visited many places to educate coaches and goalkeepers including Holland, Brazil and New Zealand.
He is the goalkeeping coach for the England Partially Sighted team and Team Bath in England alongside various other positions. His materials are available on CoachingFutsal.com alongside other renowned coaches such as Spanish Head Coach Venancio.
If futsal is to grow in countries that are beginning their journey into futsal then coaches with the same dedication, passion and expertise as Andy's are essential. He will be an important element in the progress of English futsal.
