Colaiste Choilm runners up at Leinster Futsal Finals

Friday 30 November 2012

TULLAMORE School Colaiste Choilm were very unlucky to lose out by one goal in the FAI Schools First Year Futsal Leinster Championships played on Thursday.

Colaiste Choilm played previous winners Dublin Oak in the final and had their opponents under the cosh for much of the game but in the end they lost out by 3-2.

Colaiste Choilm were not expecting much from the days outing but surprised themselves by winning the group confidently winning four out of the five games played. The Tullamore School opened their account with a 3-1 win over Wexford CBS.

This was followed by a narrow 2-1 win over Naas CBS. Grennan College, Thomastown were next up for Tullamore and a 3-1 win in favour of Richelle O’Neill’s squad was the outcome. Donabate Community College were the only team to beat Colaiste Choilm in the group stages as they enjoyed a 2-0 win which left them third in their group. The final group game for the Offaly contenders was a 2-0 victory over De La Salle to see them sit top of the table.

Offaly were represented in Girls Section by the Sacred Heart School. They narrowly missed out on a place in the final as they finished second in their group. In their group they even defeated eventual winners Loreto 4-0 but it just wasn’t enough to see them through.
