Looking for a further improvement of their performances, after the promising participations in the spanish and brazilians previous world cup editions, the Japanese girls coached by Masaaki Arihara, who also works as assistant coach of Miguel Rodrigo in the men selection, are finally flying to Portugal.

Drawn in group A, they will experience a very hard debut against the tournaments hosts Portugal, and then will have to face Venezuela, Iran and title holders Brazil in their run for a place in semifinal or at least to avoid the lower ranked finals.
