Trinidad and Tobago NewsdayFutsal at UWI SPECSunday, November 18 2012THE UNIVERSITY of the West Indies (UWI) St Augustine campus’ Event Management class of 2012, who have taken up the sobriquet “Dragon Stars”, will be hosting a day-long Futsal Invitational Tournament at the UWI SPEC (Sports and Physical Education Centre) Indoor Court, St Augustine today (SUNDAY).
The event will run from 9 am to 4 pm with seven teams invited to compete — Cadena UWI, TTTHI (Tourism Institute), University of the Southern Caribbean (USC), UTT (University of Trinidad and Tobago) Valsayn, Marchin United, Dem Fellaz In Red and St James Jamaat.
A jackpot of $3,000 is on offer for the winning team, while the runners-up will pocket $2,000 and the third-placed team will get $1,000.
There will also be a number of prizes, for the Player of the Tournament, Most Goals, Most Disciplined Team and Best Cheerleaders.
And the matches will be officiated by a quartet of FIFA certified officials — Dion Neil, Nigel Roberts, Gregory Lewis and Rashby McPhie.
