The Borneo PostEntries invited for futsal competitionNovember 17, 2012, SaturdaySIBU: Entries are invited for the N.49 Nangka futsal open championship which will be held next month at the 1Malaysia futsal court in Kpg Nangka. According to the organising committee spokesman, Jimmy De Rozario, said matches were scheduled for Dec 1, 2, 8 and 9.
Nangka Youth secretariat together with its social, cultural and unity secretariat are jointly organising the event with Nangka Village Development and Security Committee, Youth and Sports Department Sibu and DUN Nangka Service Centre.
Jimmy said the first 16 entries will be accepted for the event which was aimed to encourage youths in the constituency to take up sports and games as part of their healthy lifestyle.
“We also hope to foster goodwill and unity among them,” he said of the competition which will also mark the commissioning of the new 1Malaysia Futsal Court.
For the prizes, Jimmy said the champion would get RM700 plus a trophy and medals, and the first runner-up would bag RM500 plus a trophy and medals.

The Borneo PostTsunami Tackle win Kampung Batu 1 futsal tourneyMIRI: Team Tsunami Tackle emerged champion in the recent Kampung Batu 1 futsal tourney after defeated Basicalloca 6-2 in the final while team War 8 beat team Formula 1 to finish third place.
Organised by Miri PAS Youth Assembly, 16 teams took part in the one-day event which was participated by residents Kampung Batu 1, Kuala Baram, Senadin, Tudan and Permyjaya.
“The futsal meet received encouraging response from villagers, and we will continue to organise bigger meets with youths in future,” PAS Sarawak Youth chief, Mohd Arifiriazul Paijo who officiated the event.
According to him, youth development in Sarawak must be given serious attention and this may be achieved through active communication, education and also encouraging them to take up sports.
