Matansa regrouped after absorbing back-to-back losses, as it slipped past MP United 1, 4-3, in the last game in Division B of the 2012 NMIFA Women's Futsal Fall League last Monday night at the TSL Sports Complex.

Matansa swept its first five matches, but bowed to Tan Holdings and Paire last week before returning to the winning column after surviving MP United's second-half rally. With the victory, Matansa now has a 6-0-2 win-draw-loss record (18 points) and just one point behind new leader Independents FC-1 (6-1-1).

Maile Aldrich, Bernadette Horey, and Tintin Conlon scored one goal apiece, giving Matansa a comfortable 3-1 lead in the first half. Mei Demapan drilled MP United-1's lone goal in the first 25 minutes of play.

Another goal from Aldrich right in the opening minute of the second half made it a 4-1 led for Matansa before MP United-1 threatened a comeback, nailing back-to-back goals in a span of two minutes. Lydia Tan connected on a goal from the left wing in the 34th minute, while Zena Demapan also found the back of the net two minutes later.

MP United then had three chances to force a deadlock in the final seven minutes of the match. Zena Demapan made the first two attempts with her initial shot just going over the left post. Her second try had the better chance of going in when she went for the long shot at the center and the ball going over the outstretched hands of Matansa goalie Cristy Villaflor before hitting the post and rolling out. Mei Demapan had the final attempt in the last two minutes, but the ball went over to the right post, dropping MP United-1 to a 3-1-4 slate.

IFC-1 2, Shirley's 0
Independents FC-1 took the solo lead in Division B after shutting out Shirley's in the first game last Monday.

Miles Rodriguez and Dyenina Diaz logged one goal apiece for the pacesetters to hand Shirley's its second loss in seven games.
Rodriguez found her target early, as he scored in the third minute and IFC-1 continued to play good defense to silence Shirley's. IFC-1's second goal also came early, as Diaz lit up the scoreboard just three minutes into the final frame.

Tan Holdings 6, IFC-2 3
Tan Holdings foiled an IFC sweep after beating the latter's second team.

Mary Kay Alferos and Chloe Salvosa did the damage for Tan Holdings, as both strikers recorded three goals apiece. Alferos drained twin goals in the opening half, which ended in a standoff, as Vanessa Gramlich and Jasmin Rayphand scored one goal apiece for IFC-2.

Then in the second half, Salvosa had a hat-trick, while Alferos added one more to give Tan Holdings its third straight victory after dropping its first four matches.

Only Coquina Teregeyo scored for IFC-2 in the second half and the team remained at the bottom half of the eight-squad field with its 1-1-5 record.

Paire 5, Matansa 2
Guinevere Borja also recorded a hat-trick last Friday to lift Paire to a 5-2 victory over Matansa.

Paire improved to a 4-1-2 slate for a tie for third place with Shirley's.

Borja fired all her three goals in the first half, while Luna Litulimar and Kate Campbell contributed one apiece in the second half. Aldrich scored the twin goals for Matansa, making all of them in the final frame.

DIVISION A

MP United 8, IFC 4

MP United broke into the win column in Division A after beating IFC (2-0-2).

Manami Tadokoro led MP United's first win, as he knocked down four goals. Negahr Rastguiy chipped in two, while Amy Taylor and Kayla Ito netted one each.

Tadokoro opened the first eight minutes of play win a pair of goals, while Taylor carded one in the 10th minute before Tadokoro completed a hat-trick two minutes later. Ito and Rastguiy then converted the last two goals in the first half for MP United's comfortable 6-2 lead. Linday Davis and Rahtree Ditwiset scored one goal apiece for IFC in the first half.

David had one more in the second and Pratoon Stoffer nailed the other goal for IFC, which still fell short after Rastguiy and Tadokoro scored anew for MP United in the final frame.

Shirleys 4, Paire 1

Shirley's kept its undefeated record (4-0-0), following an easy win over Paire in the other Division A match last Friday.
Jeraldine Castillo canned twin goals for the division leader, while Marielle Gariguez and Jhaneeka Atalig posted one each. Patricia Coleman made the lone goal for Paire, which fell to a 1-0-3 card.
