by Roselyn Monroyo

Independents FC-1 took the solo second place in the team standings in the 2012 NMIFA Women's Futsal Fall League after shutting out MP United 1, 4-0, last Friday at the TSL Sports Complex.

IFC-1, which was in a four-way tie for second place with Shirley's FC, Paire, and MP United 2, as they shared similar 3-1-1 win-draw-loss slates before the weekend games, broke the deadlock after getting good games from mother and daughter Temary and Maryana Gramlich.

Maryana drilled two goals for IFC-1, while Temary added one. Miles Rodriguez scored the other goal for IFC-1, which is now just one win behind the league-leading and unbeaten Matansa (5-0-0).

MP United-2 remained winless in five games and is at the bottom of the team standings in the 8-squad Division B. Tan Holdings FC and IFC-2 complete the field and hold identical 0-1-4 records.

DIVISION A

Shirley's 2, IFC 1
In the first Division A match, Shirley's FC also broke the tie for first place after defeating IFC.

With its third straight victory, Shirley's is now the only unbeaten team in the group. IFC fell to a 2-0-1 slate.

Lalaine Pagarao and Jeralyn Castillo logged one goal each for Shirley's, while Pratoon Stoffer made the lone goal for IFC.

Paire 7, MP United 2
In the other Division A match, Paire made it to the win column after two missed attempts.

Kayleen Salle toyed around the defense of MP United and scored five goals to lift Paire to the easy win. Natalie Hill earned the two other goals for Paire.

Michelle Masga put MP United (0-0-3) in the scoreboard off her penalty kick in the first half, while Negahr Rastguiy recorded the other goal for the slumping team.

Games in the futsal fall league are played three times a week or every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The first two playing days feature games in Division B, while Division A teams play only every Friday.

Tomorrow, sister teams IFC-1 and IFC-2 collide in the first game at 5:30pm; MP United-1 takes on Shirley's FC at 6:30pm; and MP United-2 duels Tan Holdings FC at 7:30pm.
