The Borneo PostJPJ to host inaugural Kapit Resident futsal tournamentby
James LingNovember 3, 2012, SaturdayKAPIT: JPJ Kapit will host the inaugural Kapit Resident challenge trophy inter-department futsal competition from Nov 7 to 9 at the Bletih Stadium.
“The response is overwhelming and it is beyond our expectation,” said Kapit Resident, Dahim Nadot on the response for the event which was initially targeted to 10 teams only.
According to him, there are now 27 teams registered for the event and the organizers were forced to reject late comers.
“This is the first time we have organise the competition and it is going to be the annual Maksak (Government Servants’ Social, Welfare and Sports Recreation Club) event to be organized by the government agencies on rotation basis under Kapit Division Maksak,” said Dahim.
He said obviously futsal is very popular among the civil servants in Kapit even though it is played mostly by men but last year, Maksak Kapit’s ladies team won the second runner-up in the state level inter-division Maksak futsal competitions.
For the coming competition, the entrance fee per team is RM 300 inclusive of jerseys for each participating team and a certificate of participation.
Dahim also handed over the challenge trophy to the organizing committee led by assistant JPJ officer, Mohd Hatta who was accompanied by deputy Kapit Resident, Mohd Ikhmal Abdullah and administrative officer (safety) Mohd Nizam.
