Phuket NewsPhuket enjoy life in in Thai Futsal Premier LeagueNewly elected Phuket Governor Mr Maitree Intusut was named honorary chairman of Phuket United Futsal Club last week by team officials.Monday 29 October 2012Phuket United is enjoying its first season in the 16-team Thai Futsal Premier League, which kicked off on October 10. The team play in the 4,000 seat Sapan Hin Stadium with the next match scheduled on November 24 against Bangkok FC.
Phuket United spokesman Mr Preechawut Keesin made the announcement about Gov. Maitree at a press event at Provincial Hall last Friday (October 26). He also said that the team has added two players from the Brazilian national futsal team.
President of Phuket United FC Mr Samak Rattanadilok Na Phuket, Club Director Mr Pradit Sangjan, local officials Mr Somnueg Hima of Rawai, along with Mr Wirat Patee, President of Phuket Provincial Sport Authority of Thailand were all in attendance at the event.
“I would like to invite all Phuket fans and also those from provinces near by to go to encourage the players. This is the first time our futsal club has taken part in the Premier League,” Preechawut said.
Mr Maitree praised the sport and said he would attend the team’s next match on November 24.
The league is currently on break for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012, which takes place from November 1 to 18 in Bangkok.
