Regional Futsal Seminar in Thailand

Bangkok: A FIFA Regional Futsal Seminar for the ASEAN region was successfully conducted in Thailand on 28-30 September 2012 ahead of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012 in November.

Eighteen Futsal Technical Directors and Futsal Committee Chairmen from 10 ASEAN countries were invited for the seminar in conjunction with the Futsal Grassroots Festival as part of the FIFA Legacy Programme for the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2012 in Bangkok on 1-18 November 2012.

Dr. Kasom Chanawongse, Chief Executive Officer and Deputy General Secretary of the Football Association (FAT) has referred to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012 as a momentous event in Asia and the Kingdom.

AFC Futsal Director Ali Targholizade, meanwhile, has mentioned that the seminar for Directors of Futsal is important to improve the exchange of information as well as communication among the regional countries in order to develop futsal in Asia and specifically the ASEAN countries.

Targholizade has also presented on general futsal development and current futsal activities in Asia.

Juerg Nepfer, FIFA Head of Education and Technical Development, has remarked about the advantages of holding the World Cup for the host such, which includes various activities in the legacy programme as well as boosting Thai tourism, building new stadiums and creating awareness of the game and promoting marketing development programmes.

Suwat Liptapanlop, LOC Chairman of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Thailand 2012, has thanked FIFA and AFC for their contribution and effort to assist FAT to make the competition a success.

The seminar instructors were FIFA Futsal Instructor Graeme Dell from England and Thailand head coach Vic Hermans.
