The FA National Futsal LeagueRound-Up
Sunday 16 September 2012Click here for table, fixtures and resultsOxford Lions Futsal Club began the new season with an emphatic 12-1 win at home to Cardiff City Futsal Club to kick start their title defence.
The FA National Futsal League Midlands champions raced to the top of the table with goals from Jamie Colomer, Lucas Totti, two each for Miguel Corral-Pernia, Pete Vallance and Paulo Westphal-Caeteno while Mpumi Nyembe netted a hat-trick.
Tyrell Webbe was the only scorer for Cardiff as Oxford eased to victory at the Park Sports Centre Holton.
Elsewhere in the Midlands League, Loughborough Student Futsal Club ran out 7-2 winners against Gloucester Futsal Revolution.
Loughborough will be looking to build on their third-place finish last season in order to push for a spot at the Grand Finals.
Wales international Eric Ramsay bagged three goals and Neil Morgan scored twice for the visitors at the @Futsal Swindon, while Flavien Chambaud and Seth Burkett added the rest.
Daniel Welch and John-Paul Podvoiskis replied for the hosts, but it was not enough as Loughborough moved into second behind early pace-setters Oxford.
The fixture between Birmingham Futsal Club and Birmingham Tigers Futsal Club has been postponed to be played at a later date.
Meanwhile, in The FA National Futsal League North, Liverpool Futsal Club secured a comfortable win over Hull Futsal Club at the Bonus Arena.
Both sides had a disappointing 2011-12 campaign and only managed six points each, but it was Liverpool who seized the initiative this time around.
The visitors raced into a 4-0 lead at half-time before sealing a 7-2 victory to climb to the summit. Karl Gornell netted an impressive four goals, while Kyle Ferguson, Rik Bradley and Ed Bryers also got on the score sheet for the Merseyside team.
Due to the withdrawal of Tranmere Victoria and Team Northumbria, the clash at Hull was the only game taking place in the League.
Division Two fixtures commence on 21 October in both North and Midlands Leagues.
