Sports facility tested with futsal tournament

LAWAS: Pre-tournament favourites Siang-Siang FC futsal team lived up to their top billing to emerge champion of the 1Youth 1Malaysia Futsal Challenge of the P.222 Lawas constituency on Sunday.

Punang United had to settle for second place while Rubin Kazan Junior and Rubin Kazan shared the third position.

In the women’s category, NBR team emerged champions while Belipat FC had to play the bridesmaid.

Lawas Damit and Medical Team shared third place.

“The tournament was held with the objective to encourage youth group to be active in sports and to promote healthy lifestyle.
It was also organised to test and fully utilised sport facilities here which was constructed by the Ministry of Youth and Sport Malaysia,” said a spokesman of the organising committee.
A total of 20 men’s teams and four ladies’ team took part in the futsal challenge trophy.
Lawas MP, Datuk Henry Sum Agong presented prizes to the winners at the closing ceremony.
