Nigerian referee for FIFA Futsal World Cup

Nigerian referee, Saheed Ayeni, has been invited by world football-governing body, FIFA as one of the referees to officiate at this year’s FIFA Futsal World Cup finals in Thailand.

The 43-year old referee, who has been an international Futsal referee since 2005, is top of four African referees invited for the finals which will be played between 1st – 18th November this year.

The other Africans are Said Kadara from Egypt, Jose Katemo of Angola and Mozambican Eduardo Mahumane.

There are a total of 38 referees from across the various Confederations, with one reserve – Kaveepol Kamawitee of Thailand.

While African supplies four referees, Asia Football Confederation will have eight, Concacaf has six, Conmebol has eight, Oceania has two and Uefa ,10.

In a circular dated 6th August and sent to the concerned Member Associations, FIFA made it clear that the designated and confirmed referees for the tournament must arrive in Bangkok, capital of Thailand on Friday, 26th October 2012 “and must be prepared to be at FIFA’s disposal from the day of their arrival in Thailand until Monday, 19th November, 2012 at the latest (the day after the final match).”
