‘Sawa’ inspires Ngwane Park to FUTSAL glory

by Sabelo Gwebu

FUTSAL- Mbabane Highlanders’ left back Sabelo ‘Sawa’ Gamedze inspired his school Ngwane Park High to the first ever FUTSAL tournament championship.

Ngwane Park whipped St Mary’s 3-1 in the finals after overcoming the school for the Deaf 3-1 in the second semi-final.
Midas City’s Mthunzi Mkhontfo’s St Mary’s had seen off a star studded Lobamba National which paraded Mbabane Swallows stars in Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu, Senzo Dlamini and Hellenic’s Tutu Fumo 6-5 in a tightly contested match.

The champions’ coach Sindiso Gama was over the moon on winning the tournament and mentioned that it would go down in the history books that his school won the first ever tournament.
Gama encouraged more schools to register for the sport which he said develop pupils’ technicality.

The five-a-side tournament was graced by National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) CEO Frederick Mngomezulu, Technical Director Boy ‘Bizzah’ Mkhonta and members of the Swaziland School Sports Association (SSSA).
