Lopsided wins in futsal league

Five teams recorded easy victories in the 2012 Saipan Soccer School Summer Futsal League over the weekend at the TSL Sports Complex in Gualo Rai.

In the lone game in the boys U18 division last Friday, IT&E clobbered Mean Machine, 9-0, to improve to a 3-0-1 win-draw-loss record.

Brian Lee led IT&E's demolition of Mean Machine, scoring a hat-trick, while his four other teammates also lit up the scoreboard. IT&E made all its goals in the first half with Enrico Del Rosario and Jake Lee nailing two apiece and Jeon Frank and Yong Jun Jeon adding one each.

With the win, IT&E kept pace with the league-leading Astig Futsal, which is ahead by only one victory against the former with its undefeated 4-0-0 card. IT&E also has scored 36 goals, 16 goals less than Astig Futsal's and 25 goals more than the current total of the third-running Thundercats (2-0-3). Mean Machine has only gained four goals and has yet to win in five games.


WOMEN'S

Shirley's 6, Mellow Yellow 0

Shirley's Coffee Shop regained the top spot in the women's division after shutting out Mellow Yellow.

Shirley's now has a 5-1-1 mark, reclaiming the No. 1 spot from Xerox, which lost the lead and fell to a 5-1-2 card after bowing to Baked Girls last Thursday.

Irish Pagarao paced Shirley's with her twin goals, making one apiece in the first and second half. Charlene Lizardo and Jeraldine Castillo also scored in the opening frame, while Kaiza Lucido and Jhaneeka Atalig drained the two other goals for Shirley's in the second half, bringing their total in seven games to 32.

Mellow Yellow still has 10 goals after failing to score in last Saturday's match and dropped to a dismal 0-1-6 slate.


Wild Bill's 7, IT&E Awesome 2

In the second game last Saturday, Wild Bill's eased past IT&E Awesome.

After a slim 2-1 halftime lead, Wild Bill's got its rhythm in the second half en route to the easy win.

Pratoom Stofffer, who was scoreless in the first half, redeemed herself in the second as he logged three goals. Sara Allen had two in the second half, duplicating her pair of goals in the first 25 minutes of play.

Negahr Rastguiy put IT&E Awesome in the board in the first half, while Jeralyn Castillo scored in the second half.

Wild Bill's got its fourth win in seven games to retain the No. 3 spot in the six-team field, while IT&E Awesome stayed at the bottom half of the team standings with its 1-0-5 card.


MEN'S

Godfather's 11, IT&E 3

Godfather's had another walk in the park, routing IT&E in the only men's game played over the weekend.

Godfather's, which whipped Shirley's in its fifth game, 20-8, claimed win No. 5 as early as in the first half after leading, 8-1. David Duenas, Chris Nelson, and Ropari Tonnu canned two goals each, while Pete Houk and Steve McKagan contributed one apiece to have the game in the bag for Godfather's.

Nelson was still at it in the second half, adding two more goals, while Tonuu completed a hat-trick with one more goal.

Joshua Borja scored all of IT&E's three goals, making one in the first and tallying a pair in the second.

IT&E (1-0-4) suffered back-to-back losses over the weekend after a no-show in its Saturday game against Go Green. The victory was only the first for Go Green after five futile attempts to break into the win column.

Go Green and IT&E are at the last two places in the team standings, behind Wild Bill's (5-0-0), Godfather's (5-0-1), and Shirley's (1-0-3).
