This is Somerset/Somerset StandardLadies have futsal feverThursday, July 26, 2012Frome Town Ladies took part in a record-breaking futsal match to raise money for Bristol Children's Hospital in honour of 11-year-old Alice Strange.
Among the Frome women taking part were one of the event organisers, Natasha Perry, and Saphri Lines, a family friend of Alice who is in remission after battling leukaemia for two years.
Thirty female from across Wiltshire took part in the marathon match which lasted ten hours and ten minutes, beating the previous record by ten minutes.
Alice, who lives in Calne, went to watch the event with her parents. "She said it was really good that everyone was raising the money. She was really pleased," said Natasha.
More than £2,000 was raised by the event. Organisers were indebted to Rotork of Bath and Recognition Express of Frome for sponsoring the team shirts.
Frome Town Ladies have teams from under-10s up to two senior adult teams. Anyone interested in playing or sponsoring the club can contact Ali Hudd 07812 785059.
