The Borneo Post17 teams vie for futsal supremacyJuly 8, 2012, SundaySIBU: The two-day Ladies Futsal tournament kicked off at Bukit Lima Indoor Stadium at Bukit Lima here yesterday.
A total of 17 teams including those from Sibu, Bintulu, Mukah and Kanowit, took part in the championship.
The champion team will get RM1,000, plus eight medals and trophy. The first runners-up will get RM700, second runners-up RM400 and third runners-up RM300. Sibu Resident Sim Kok Kee, speaking at the opening ceremony, reminded the players to play the game with full discipline and sportsmanship.
“Hopefully, there would not be any dispute over the matches that could spoil the game,’ he said.
He added that the competition was a good platform to test the skills and agility of the players.
“Besides, it is also a venue for the players from the respective divisions to mix and understand each other better. So try your best to make as many friends as possible.”
SMC Chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King will officiate the closing ceremony today (Sunday) at 3pm.
