PANAJI: The Brasil Futebol Academia (BFA) will start its Futebol De Salao (Futsal Program) starting next week at the Chowgule Sports and Fitness Centre's state-of-the-art Futsal court 'Tigers Ghol'.

BFA - a brainchild of Brazilian footballers Roberto Mendes da Silva and Jose Ramirez Barreto - was the first to introduce the futsal program in Goa three years ago using futsal balls, specially designed goalposts and futsal kits at Don Bosco in Panaji.

After the success in North Goa, BFA will start its futsal program in South Goa at the 'Tigers Ghol' an indoor Futsal court with floodlit facility and imported futsal pitch .

The program will be designed by BFA's new technical director Juliano Fontana and will be assisted by BFA head coach Rodrigo Mendes Silva.

Juliano has experience of coaching at Gremio Football Porto Alegrense, commonly known as Gremio, one of the more popular football clubs in Brazil. He has also spent a couple of years in the United States.

Through its futsal program, BFA intends to bring Brazilian-style futsal to Goa, working on the development of young Goan players while creating an enjoyable and fun environment.

"It is an opportunity for kids to learn the unique Brazilian method skills training from coaches with professional and international coaching backgrounds. Each week, we will incorporate intensive football training, together with matches, as well as learning about other aspects of the game," the BFA said in a statement on Saturday.

The academy said "sensational samba moves, along with dribbling and juggling sequences will be taught."
