The two squads have faced-off on four previous occasions with Costa Rica holding a 3-0-1 record in the series … In their last meeting, goals by Miguel Lasso and Apolinar Galvez in the final four minutes of the match, gave the Canaleros a 6:6 draw against the Ticos during the group stage of the 2008 CONCACAF Tournament … This is also the third consecutive meeting at Guatemala City’s Domo Polideportivo … Costa Rica is coming off a 7:1 victory over St. Kitts & Nevis on Wednesday to capture first-place in Group A … Meanwhile, Panama took the second spot in Group B after defeating Canada, 8:5.

This is the 10th meeting between the two teams with Guatemala leading the series 6-2-1, however Mexico is unbeaten against the hosts in CONCACAF games, 2-0-1 … The last encounter between the two took place at the Domo, during the group stage of the 2008 event, which ended in a 3:3 draw … The Chapines have an eight-game unbeaten streak in CONCACAF Tournament play which their last defeat coming at the 1996 event’s third-place match against the Tricolores, 3:1, in Ciudad de Guatemala's FUTECA Roosevelt … Defending Confederation Champion Guatemala took first-place at this tournament Group A after topping the USA, 2:1, on Wednesday, while Mexico finished second in Group B by defeating Cuba, 5:1.

By reaching the semifinals of the CONCACAF Championship, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico and Panama all qualified to the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup taking place in Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from 1-18 November … The Ticos and Chapines will be making their third appearance at the FIFA Tournament, while the Tricolores and Canaleros their first … The four CONCACAF Representatives join the following qualified nations to complete the 24-team field: Host - Thailand; Africa (CAF) – Egypt, Libya, Morocco; Asia (AFC) – Australia, Iran, Japan, Kuwait; Europe (UEFA) – Czech Republic, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Ukraine; South America (CONMEBOL) – Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay; Oceania (OFC) – Soloman Islands.

CONCACAF FUTSAL REACHED ‘100’ GAMES
The last encounter of the 2012 Group Stage, Guatemala – USA of Group A, was CONCACAF’s 100th Futsal Match … Since the first Confederation’s tournament 16 years ago, all the encounters doubled as the qualifiers to five consecutive FIFA Futsal World Cups (Spain 1996, Guatemala 2000, Chinese Taipei 2004, Brazil 2008, Thailand 2012).

Costa Rica’s Diego Solis is the first CONCACAF head coach to qualify a team to the FIFA Futsal World Cup (2012) after competing as a player in the Ticos last two appearances (1992, 2000) … Forward Miguel Lasso of Panama currently leads the final round’s goal scoring list with six and he also has nine overall in all-time tournament’s history … Carlos Eduardo Estrada is currently unbeaten in eight Confederation tournament matches at the helm of Guatemala, which is tied for second-best (other Costa Rica’s Carlos Quiros) … Mexico’s Ramon Raya is the first CONCACAF head coach to qualify both its Beach Soccer and Futsal Team to a FIFA Tournament.
