Futsal referee course held in Kuwait

Friday, 06 July 2012

Kuwait City: A Futsal Referee Course was held with the assistance of AFC on Wednesday on the sidelines of the AFC Futsal Club Championship 2012 currently underway in Kuwait City.

A total of 18 futsal referees, including six women, from Kuwait, attended the course instructed by AFC Elite Futsal Referee Instructors Adrian Tamplin from Australia and Hong Kong’s Andy Wong.

AFC Referees Department seized upon the opportunity to conduct the course as the two instructors were coincidently in Kuwait for the AFC Futsal Club Championship.

It was the first time such an arrangement was made and it is now seen as an excellent way how AFC can use available experts to deliver latest knowledge and developments in refereeing to the MAs at ground level.

Instructors on duty in AFC competitions can help out the host MAs in conducting courses for the MA referees and AFC is now looking at the possibility of continuing this marriage of convenience in other venues where AFC competitions are held.

The course covered both theoretical and practical aspects of futsal refereeing and the participants were happy to be exposed to the finer points of futsal refereeing techniques.

The instructors shared their wide experience and also explained the recruitment procedures for AFC Elite Futsal Referees. The participants were motivated and elated from the wealth of knowledge gained through the course.
