Sapo takes over as Futsal new coach

Portuguese Sergio Sapo (Futsalplanet note: actually he's brazilian) is the new Head Coach of the Qatar Futsal national team, QFA Futsal committee announced on Tuesday.

Sapo, who managed Japan and Uzbekistan, arrived in Qatat to take up his new job.

The 52-year-old replaces Francesco Batista, who led Qatar to finish first in the West Asian zone qualification tournament held in Kuwait two months ago.

Sapo coached Fluminense, Botafogo and Dinamo Yamal of Russia, as a player, he won the Pan American championship with Brazil in 1984.

Qatar are preparing for the Asian championship to be held in UAE next May.
