Stampin futsal teams gets financial boost

KUCHING: The men and women futsal teams representing Stampin in the national 1 Belia 1 Malaysia futsal tournament yesterday received a morale boost as Stampin MP Datuk Yong Khoon Seng presented both teams with cash assistance.

Speaking at the ceremony, Yong reminded the team members to stay discipline and focus during the tournament.

He also presented the Sarawak flag to the teams.

Organised by the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS), the tournament, held for the second consecutive year will see teams from all parliamentary constituency across the nation to compete at the 1Malaysia futsal court in Presint 18, Putrajaya.

According to KBS Kuching office head Syed Zyed Wan Asnawi, the futsal event is an effort by KBS to bring together futsal players from all over the nation to compete in the popular game.

“This is an effort by KBS to ensure active participation by our youth in healthy activities and we are sure teams from Kuching will challenge for top honours,” said Syed.

Kuching will be represented by two teams from six of its parliamentary areas namely, Mas Gading, Santubong, Petra Jaya, Bandar Kuching, Stampin and Mambong with a total of 119 futsal players.

Fazul Abarahim and Mariana Othman are the team-managers for the men’s and women’s team respectively.
