The Solomon Islands national U16 futsal squad bowed out in the semifinals of the Australian national futsal Championship in Canberra yesterday.

They lost 3-5 to ACT Cobras in the second semifinal.
Solomon Islands advanced to the semifinals after defeating NSW Lighting 3-2 and South Australia 4-1 in the eight and ninth round yesterday but were unfortunate to make it into the final when they were up in the semi against a team that defeated them in the pool round ACT Cobras.

The grand final will be between ACT Cobras and NSW Thunder today.

ACT Cobras who defeated Solomon Islands 4-1 earlier in round five, step up their foot and gain themselves a spot on the final with the 5-3 victory.

Likewise NSW Thunder who also defeated Solomon Islands with a close goal of 2-1 in the round one booked themselves the final spot by kicking out close rival NSW Lighting.

Solomon Islands all through the championship won 5 games and lost two games.

They defeated Victoria 6-2 in their second game, 5-1 to ACT Colts, 7-0 to NSW West, 7-1 to Queensland, 3-2 to NSW Lighting and 4-1 to South Australia.

In overall round robin play Solomon Islands finished second on the ladder with 18 points and top of the ladder team NSW Thunder 22 points, ACT Cobras on third with 17 and NSW Lightning fourth with 15 points.

Finals will be played today.
