Windsor Centers slates new programs in January

IRON RIVER — The Windsor Center on Adams Street (U.S. 2) is offering new programs for 2012.

Futsal (soccer indoors) begins Friday, Jan. 6, for ages 6 and up, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. There is a $1 charge per player.

Futsal is soccer played between two teams on a hard court floor with boundaries and goals.

Unlike indoor soccer, walls and boards are not used. Futsal is played with a small ball with less bounce than a regular soccer ball.

The rules create an emphasis on improvisation, creativity and technique as well as ball control and passing in small spaces.

Futsal originated in South America in 1930 and today is worldwide.
