Carlos AruafuAll Stars futsal team yesterday presented one of their best performances defeating the strong Vodka Cruz side 4-1 in the Honiara City Council (HCC) futsal championship pool D match.
Equipped with all the former national U16 futsal squad members, All Stars made their presence felt right from kick off with accurate passing and gaining more ball possession over their rivals.
Key player, Junior Fa’arodo made a positive start for the Stars with two goals in the first stanza with the help of Kevin who bagged their third to take the lead by three goals.
Vodka Cruz pulled one back by Lawrence later in the second but was not of much help coming close to equalizing as Junior Fa’arodo extended the gap when he scored his hat trick just before the final whistle.
In another highlighted match of the day, Island Drifters defeated Zion FC 4-2 in the junior category.
A double by Carlton Beuka and Patterson Beuka was enough for Island Drifters to claim their win for the day.
Zion FC had something to feel proud of from Junior Moffat Bonunga’s two goals despite losing and running the court with five men and no substitutes for the whole duration of the match.
The third match of the day saw Bokolo Bittles defeating Burns Creek 2-0 for the men’s open category.
Meanwhile pool D of the men’s open category still has two matches to be played before determining which two teams qualify for the quarter finals.
