AFC Futsal Player of the Year: Mohammad Keshavarz

Wednesday, 23 November 2011

Kuala Lumpur: An MVP-winning display for Shahid Mansouri in the 2011 AFC Futsal Club Championship has seen Iranian star Mohammad Keshavarz named the AFC Futsal Player of the Year.

Keshavarz, a four-time AFC Futsal Championship winner with Iran, was deemed the best player of the second edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship and was in superb form as his former team narrowly missed out on glory in Doha after being edged 3-1 by Nagoya Oceans in the final.

A runners-up finish meant that the in-demand 29-year-old, who now plays his club futsal with Giti Pasand, missed the chance to become the first player to win the AFC Futsal Club Championship with two different clubs having helped Foolad Mahan to the inaugural title in 2010.

"I attribute tonight's award to my father who has been instrumental in helping in my career," said Keshavarz after receiving the award from AFC Executive Committee member Richard Lai, who is also Chairman of the AFC Futsal Committee.

"I also dedicate this award to the people of Iran and to my fellow team mates and every futsal player in Iran with the hope this success is repeated by Iranians and shared together.

"I also look forward to playing in the AFC Futsal Championship in 2012 and hopefully impressing people more."
