Jilong pays courtesy visit to PM of Mongolia

Friday, 11 November 2011

Ulaanbaatar: AFC Acting President Zhang Jilong on Friday paid a courtesy visit to HE Sukhbaatar Batbold, the Prime Minister of Mongolia.

Jilong is in the Mongolian capital on a three-day visit to inaugurate FIFA’s Goal Projects 3 and 4 (indoor futsal hall), scheduled for Saturday. The AFC Acting chief visited the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) House on the first day of his visit on Thursday and held meetings with MFF President Ganbold Buyannemkh.

The meeting with the Prime Minister took place at the Parliament Building in a cordial atmosphere with the focus of the talks on the development of football in Mongolia and the government’s support for the sport.

Jilong praised the MFF’s keen interest in promoting football under the leadership of MFF President Buyannemkh, who accompanied Jilong.

“Today I had the honour of meeting the Prime Minister of Mongolia and I was pleased to learn about the great interest he has in developing football in the country. I would like to thank him for taking the time out from his very busy schedule to receive the joint FIFA and AFC delegation,” said Jilong.

“The government of Mongolia is fully behind the MFF and this will boost football in the country.

“We discussed how FIFA and AFC can further enhance their support for Mongolian football. The Goal Projects 3 and 4, which will be inaugurated tomorrow in the presence of Mongolia President HE Tsakhia Elbegdorj, shows FIFA’s interest in helping its Member Associations develop.”

HE Batbold welcomed FIFA’s assistance in setting up the indoor futsal hall.

“The climate in Mongolia is a big factor, which affects sports activities. So the indoor futsal house is a very good facility which will help Mongolian football develop,” said the Prime Minister.

Jilong later attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by Ulaanbaatar Mayor Gombosuren Munkhbayar before visiting the Mongolian National Olympic Committee headquarters for a meeting with Vice-President Damdin Tsend.

Jilong inaugurates Mongolia Goal project

Saturday, 12 November 2011

Ulaanbaatar: The game in Mongolia received a major fillip on Saturday when AFC Acting President Zhang Jilong inaugurated the country’s third and fourth FIFA Goal projects: a magnificent indoor futsal hall, right next to the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) House.

In attendance for the event were the President of Mongolia HE Tsakhia Elbegdorj, MFF President Ganbold Buyannemkh and several other ministers and dignitaries.

Given the country's unique climate - Mongolia's football season lasts no longer than five months - the project, which was approved in 2007, comprises an indoor futsal hall of FIFA-approved dimensions with seating facility and dressing rooms.

“This is a momentous occasion for the Mongolian Football Federation, FIFA and also AFC. The Mongolian Football Federation has shown the dedication and passion to secure Goal projects 3 and 4, which is a great achievement,” said Jilong after opening the hall.

“This facility will help develop football in your country and help you to uphold the true values of football. The Goal project was launched by FIFA President Blatter with exactly this intention in mind and I can tell you today that he is extremely proud of this achievement,” added the AFC Acting President.

“The inauguration of Goal projects 3 and 4 is proof of the great collaboration and cooperation between FIFA and the Mongolian Football Federation. It is a pact of friendship between your great football loving country and FIFA.

“This shows FIFA continues to remain committed to developing football in Mongolia. FIFA will always attend to the needs of Mongolian football.

Jilong pledged support to Mongolian football.

“I hope to see Mongolian football develop and take its true place in Asian and world football. FIFA and AFC remain at hand to serve our friends in Mongolia,” said Jilong.

The whole ceremony was interspersed by cultural programmes and fireworks.
