West City Crusaders confident for Futsal Super League season

WEST City Crusaders officials are confident a handful of their sides can challenge for titles in the Futsal Super League this season.

The club’s under-14 boys, under-16 boys and open women were beaten in grand finals last season.

But president Warren Ladd says those teams and others can shake things up.

“Our aim this year is to go one step better than last and win a few competitions,” Ladd said.

“Our 14 boys are the same squad to last year, so we are expecting big things from them. The open men and youth men are also looking good this season.”

The club opened the 2011-12 season last weekend with a local derby against the Greater Western Sydney Vikings at Emerton Leisure Centre.

Despite winning seven out of nine, Ladd said the games were much tighter than the scorelines.

“It was good to start with the derby and with some good wins. But we were made to work for the results with the under-16 girls and open women,” he said.

“Even the under-12 girls, who lost 12-1, fought very hard and in my opinion are little dynamites who I think can finish mid-table or push for a finals position.”
