Final U16 futsal squad named

Futsal training will now in full swing now that the U16 Futsal squad has selected the final squad.

A spokesperson for the squad said the final 12 players had been identified and will now concentrate on training for the annual championship in Australia.

"The Australian Futsal Championship will be in January and we will be gearing up for that event," the spokesperson said.

He said Solomon Islands is the only country in the region that has reached the Australian championship standards.

"We are very fortunate to have a place in that championship and we are highly respected in this trade."

He appealed to parents to support the boys in their first fundraising drive in preparation for the trip.

A tentative squad was named a few weeks ago but was slashed to 12 yesterday.

The final 12 man squad are: Paul Lucky (Goal Keeper), Anthony Talo (Goal Keeper), Aquila Gela, Junior Wane, Shyne Keru, Trevor Titia, Charles Lafai, Wilson Doedoke, Patterson Suimae, Samuel Jr Tora, George Lusibaea and Tyson Leong.
