The Borneo PostMP: Don’t see Kapit posting as exileby
James LingOctober 2, 2011, SundayKAPIT: Civil servants should not view a posting in Kapit as being exiled, said Kapit member of parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He said such a perception was wrong because “Kapit is beautiful and challenging”.
“In the past, when civil servants from Kuching or other major towns were told to serve in Kapit, they were reluctant to report for duty.
“I hope now the people have changed their negative perception of Kapit and willingly come to serve here. Comparatively, we’re lagging behind but we’ve accelerated the pace of development,” he said when opening the Sarawak Maksak Futsal Competition yesterday.
He pointed out that the people in Kapit are friendly people, and that the air and environment is clean.
Nanta also announced a RM15,000 grant for the Kapit Maksak Club and another RM500 each for the participating teams from Samarahan, Kuching, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Betong, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu and Limbang.
Over 100 futsal players are taking part in the competition, which ends today.
