Daily StarAll Sports get off to a winning start with a 6-0 victory over USJAugust 23, 2011by
Fouad AklBEIRUT: Last year’s runners-up All Sports had no difficulties clinching their first win in the Lebanese futsal championship, defeating newly promoted USJ (Universite Saint-Joseph) at Emile Lahoud Stadium.
In the first half, All Sports were extremely well organized on the pitch, displaying great chemistry between their players and playing a superb passing game. Moving the ball from one side of the court to another, the team made their opponents run in a clear attempt to put them out of focus. This tactic resulted in three consecutive goals that saw All Sports take a 3-0 lead at halftime.
After a small break, USJ came out in the second half trying to put some pressure on the leading side, as they applied a tough defensive tactic.
USJ got two chances on goal but couldn’t score to cut their deficit, as their opponents regained their momentum and dominated possession once again, scoring three more goals to end the match in their favor.
Monday was the second day of the 2011/2012 futsal championship.
Futsal game is played over two halves of 20 minutes each, with each team having five players on the field and an unlimited number of substitutions. Every five fouls committed by the same team costs them a penalty shot and if a player receives a red card, the team plays for two minutes with four players only after which a fifth player is allowed back in.
