Both teams head into the finals in supreme form after going through the Northern Beaches Regional Championships undefeated.
The girls team led by captain Roxie Swart didn’t concede a goal in wins against Mackellar (6-0), Narrabeen Sports (6-0), PLC (3-0) and Masada (2-0).
Year 10 student Roxie, 15, said goalkeeper Thea Margalit was a standout in defence.
“Thea is the backbone of our team,” she said.
“She was really good at organising things and talking it up.”
Roxie said the girls are quietly confident of extending their winning streak in the state finals.
“I think if we come together as a team, we have got a good shot at winning,” she said.
Boys captain Dominic Ferguson said his side will utilise the same attacking style which served them well during their unbeaten run in the northern beaches competition.
“We’re a young, quick team and we’re going in there confident,” he said.
“We’re going out there to attack and score as many goals as we can.”
The state finals are at Penrith Sports Stadium on August 11.
Killara’s 19s boys team was eliminated in the northern beaches competition after winning two out of their three round-robin games.
The 16s girls: Ella Gibson, Holly Gibbons, Roxie Swart, Rashna Krishnan, Eliza Cepak, Thea Margalit, Hannah Bryant, Georgia Swinton and Zoe Sitas.
The 16s boys: Harrison Devenish Mears, Ryan Peterson, Sam Mackay, Dominic Ferguson, Luka Pavkovic, Anthony Kali and Daniel Stern.
