Rosmah calls on LAs, private sector to build more futsal courts

27/06/2011

KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) The prime minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor today called on local authorities and the private sector to help build more futsal courts especially at housing estates throughout the country.

She said having the courts could help prevent social ills among youths and encourage them to adopt healthy lifestyles.

"I am aware futsal has become a hit with Malaysian youths, men and women alike, and I have been told that although the number of futsal courts is increasing, there just aren't enough of them.

"The existing courts are booked solid not matter whether working days or weekends. And when competitions are held, the response is overwhelming," she said when closing and giving away the prizes to the winners of the Futsal 1Giat Mara competition here today.

The competition held in conjunction with GiatMara's silver anniversary was participated by some 2,000 staff GiatMara, state Mara teams and Mara's educational institutions.
