AFC Asian Coaches Night on Nov 23

Kuala Lumpur: Asia is marking 2010 as Asian Coaches Year and the celebrations will reach a climax on AFC Asian Coaches Night on November 23 here.

In recognition of the contribution to coaching, 38 top Asian coaches and instructors are to be honoured with AFC’s Gold Service Award during the AFC Asian Coaches Night, which will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel.

An award for the best AFC Member Association in coach education will also be presented during the function.

Among the 12 FIFA World Cup coaches who are to be honoured at the gala are: DPR Korea coach in 1966 Myong Rye-hyon, Takeshi Okada (Japan), Huh Jung-moo (Korea Republic) and Kim Jong-hun (DPR Korea), who led their sides in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa earlier this year.

Ma Yuanan, under whose guidance China finished runners-up in the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup in the US, Iran’s coach in the FIFA Futsal World Cup Hossein Shams and several previous AFC Asian Cup winning coaches are also in the list of recipients.

Nine AFC Elite Coaching Instructors and ten winners of the AFC Coach of the Year awards will also be given the AFC Gold Service Awards.
