Background:
As a player:
My beginnings in soccer were in the lower divisions of Club Atlético Newel's Old Boys. My generation produced great Argentinian players, I could name, among others, Jorge Valdano, Américo Rubén Gallego, Ricardo Giusti, Raúl Roque Alfaro, Marcelo Alberto Bielsa (present Head Coach of Argentinian Soccer Team). Although I was not lucky enough to figure among the top ranks of soccer, I found in "futsal" the opportunity of developing first as an sportsman and later as a coach.
From 1976 I was a member of the "futsal" team of the Club Átlético Newell's Old Boys, which was Home League Champion for several seasons and a true leader in Argentinian "futsal". I was part of Newell's team in several tours to Uruguay and Brazil.
Later, I participated in National Championships as a member of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario team, which won once the Argentinian Clubs Championship. I was also a member of Santa Fe Provincial Teams, several times Champion of the Argentinian League in this branch. I was part of the Argentine Team in South American Championships (Colombia and Uruguay), at the Pan American Cup that was held at Campinas, Brazil, and the World Championship in Spain (1985). All my career as a player was within the F.I.F.U.S.A.
As a coach:
In 1986 I started to work as Head Coach of the main "futsal" team of Club Atlético Newell's Old Boys, which is now within A.F.A. - F.I.F.A. Newell's Old Boys won several awards, among them twice the Argentinian Championship. With Newell's Old Boys I toured Brazil several times, and I travelled twice to Europe (Spain and Belgium).
I was appointed Head Coach of the Argentine Team for the years 1987 and 1992, taking part in the Unofficial World Cup in Brasilia (Brazil) and the World Championships in Holland and Hong Kong. The Argentine Team participated in the First FIFA Futsal World Championship in Holland, by invitation. The team qualified for the Second FIFA Futsal World Championship played in Hong Kong, after getting the second place in the South American Championship in Aracajú (Sergipe-Brazil).
Later on I worked in the Club Social y Deportivo Colo Colo in Chile, obtaining the first place in the first "futsal" competition organized in Chile.
I was called to coach the Chilean "Futsal" National Team in the qualifying stage for the World Championship in Spain. The matches took place in Niteroi (Brazil). Then I took on the responsibility of organizing and coaching the Club Atlético River Plate main "futsal" team from 1998 through 2001.
I was called for Thailand football Federation for delivering 4 Coaching Courses in 4 different cities in Thailand. More than 400 coaches attended the courses in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani, Phuket during 35 days.Besides, I assisted to Thailand Futsal National Team in the preparation for the Asian Championship in Indonesia where Thailand got the third place. In January 2003, I was appointed FIFA Futsal Instructor and later I went to Chile for delivering Coaching Courses in Arica, Santiago and Iquique during the development of South American Clubs Championship.Later on, I was called for Thailand Federation again for assisting them in the next edition of Asian Championship in Tehran (Irán) where Thailand got the third place, winning all of the games and only drawing against Japan in semifinal losing by golden goal. Then, I went to Thailand again for more than 2 months for training Futsal National Team for Thailand 5s tournament and organizing Futsal National Team under 21 and beginning the plan for introducing Futsal in schools after several meetings with the Thailand Minister of Sports and Tourism. In August, I went to Lima (Perú) for delivering 2 Coaching Courses for 60 coaches during 8 days. Finally, I was in Chile in July 2004 again. At that opportunity for 2 Coaching Courses in Santiago and Viña del Mar. Around 60 coaches and 60 referees attended to those courses which were held together with the Uruguayan international referee Walter Arce.
