28/10/2003 - 30/10/2003 World Inter-University Futsal Championship 2003 FORMAT WORLD CUP - World Cup Finals (Antwerp, Belgium) - 28 and 29 October 2003 - Qualification Russian Federation (Moscow, Russia) - September 2003 - Qualification Europe (Antwerp, Belgium) - March - June 2003 - Wild Card Tournament (Jena (Germany) - April 2003 THE WORLD UNIVERSITY FUTSAL CHAMPIONSHIP (FIVE A SIDE) - ANTWERP 2003 Following consultations with a number of major universities, the International Student Football Federation learned that there is a clear and present demand for an International Futsal Championship. A. Realistic Qualification Mode Therefore participating in Antwerp 2003 is simple: just select two weekends from the dates menu. Besides the fact that International Futsal is possible from the first game on, each institution can select the most appropriate date in relation to its academic planning and especially in relation to the planning of the regular Futsal clubs of the better Futsal playing students. As qualifier for the Finals, your team will receive 1.000 EURO to help cover travel and accommodation costs related to the finals. B. Pleasant Stay Your stay in Antwerp will not be a problem either. Suitable accommodation, guidance and meals are all taken care of. C. Participation Facilities The entry fee per team is reduced to 1.850 EURO and more than one team per institution is welcome. The participation fee includes for 10 persons per team, accommodation for two (2) nights, all meals and all other championship requirements such as accreditations, referee fees, venue rent, game facilities, stewards, D. Registration Registration is simple by filling out the enclosed registration form. After the groups have been put together, you will receive detailed information on your opponents, your stay in Antwerp and all other important aspects. The Federation will in addition organize a female competition. Although the registration period is officialy finalized, you are still free to contact ISFF te make participation possible. THE CITY OF ANTWERP Antwerp and its university are proud to host the First World University Futsal Championship and therefore offers all participants a wide variety of possibilities and not only as far as sport is concerned. Antwerp remains the Diamond Capital of the world, incorporates the 4th port of the world, is one of Europes most popular fashion centres and is the cultural and social centre of Belgium offering an amazing number of restaurants, grand cafιs, pubs and other gastronomic facilities. The region of Antwerp, with its 1 million inhabitants, is without any doubt a fascinating metropolis full of surprises. www.antwerp.be The venue The venue, incorporating two (2) futsal pitches, is situated in the sports complex of the University of Antwerp. All necessary sanitary, game and catering facilities are present. University of Antwerp UFSIA Campus - Sports Prinsstraat 13 B-2000 Antwerpen 1 Belgium Guidance Each team is welcomed upon arrival and guided during the entire stay by students of the University Antwerp. To highlight the international interaction, two (2) evening events are planned, a party on Saturday and for the remaining teams, a pub visit on Sunday. DATES In order to realize an optimal division of the pools, we kindly ask you to choose in the enclosed registration form one round. As a result of your weekend choice, one weekend will be selected in which your team will compete against those teams that opted for the same weekend. Weekend rounds (Friday, Saterday and Sunday) Round 21-23 March Round 11-13 April Round 16-18 May Round 30 May - 1 June REALISTIC QUALIFICATION MODE Match Format The game format consists of two (2) pools and each pool incorporates five (5) teams. The games are divided over two (2) days, Saturday and Sunday, and each team will play at least four (4) games. As pool winner, you are entitled to play the weekend final. Each match equals two equal periods of 15 minutes. Qualification Mode As winner of the weekend final you are automatically qualified for the World Cup finals and your team is entitled to 1.00O EURO to help cover travel and accommodation costs for the Finals. Laws of the game The FIFA Futsal regulations for national Matches are applicable with exception of a number of aspects that are forwarded as a result of your registration. STUDENT FRIENDLY ACCOMODATION The selected teams will stay at the International "Zeemanshuis" in the centre of Antwerp, at walking distance from the venue. Continental breakfast is served in the hotel on Saturday and Sunday mornings. On Friday and Saturday evenings dinner is served in the Championship restaurant and lunch is served on Saturday and Sunday at the venue. International Zeemanshuis Antwerp www.zeemanshuis.be (including a map) EXCELLENT TRANSPORT MODALITIES The hotel is located near the competition site and right in the centre of Antwerp. Therefore transport modalities are not necessary to travel around in the city and to reach the venue. Antwerp is easy to reach by all usual means of transport. By airplane Antwerp Airport is mainly focused on the Diamond trade and therefore gives only access to a limited number of flights. Please check your travel agency. Nevertheless, Zaventem Airport (Brussels Airport) is only situated 35 KM from the centre of Antwerp and each hour a bus link is provided between the centre of Antwerp and Zaventem Airport. If you need more information on this bus link, please contact the ISFA on info@isff.net. By train Antwerp is easy to reach by all main European train stations. By car or coach Antwerp is connected with all major European motorways. THE WORLD CUP FINALS The World Cup finals are also organized in Antwerp at the end of September 2003. The different weekend winners are invited for the final stage of the World Cup. How the format of the games will look like and how many days are necessary to decide the final stage, will depend on the number of finalists. No financial contribution is requested for the final and each finalist will receive 1.000 EURO from ISFF to help cover the accommodation and travel costs. COST OF PARTICIPATION The basic participation package consists of a stay of three days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (two nights spent). Extra rooms are at your disposal if your team opts for an extended stay. The whole accommodation concept is based upon 10 persons per delegation. Nevertheless extra rooms are possible per delegation in case of availability.
